THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN RALEIGH HAS ISSUED A
* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR CAROLINA LAKE DAM NEAR HERDS CREEK IN
MOORE COUNTY.
* UNTIL 530 PM EDT.
* AT 1226 PM EDT...THE IMMINENT FAILURE OF CAROLINA LAKE DAM WAS
REPORTED BY NORTH CAROLINA EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT. THIS DAM IS
LOCATED IN THE CAROLINA LAKES SUBDIVISION NEAR CAMERON NORTH
CAROLINA... IN EASTERN MOORE COUNTY.
LOCAL OFFICIALS REPORT THAT A 10 TO 12 FOOT WIDE BREACH HAS DEVELOPED ALONG THE SPILLWAY PIPE OF THE CAROLINA LAKE DAM... AND A DAM FAILURE IS IMMINENT. OFFICIALS FROM NORTH CAROLINA DAM SAFETY...
NORTH CAROLINA WATER QUALITY... AND LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AND ARE ON THE SCENE. AREAS AFFECTED WILL BE PRIMARILY FOREST LAND SOUTH AND EAST OF THE DAM. POTENTIAL LOCATIONS AFFECTED INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: HERDS CREEK... LAKE REST LANE... CAROLINA LAKES ROAD... HEAVENWOOD ROAD... LAMMS GROVE ROAD... AND BAYWOOD LANE.
TO REPORT FLOODING...HAVE THE NEAREST LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY RELAY YOUR REPORT TO THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECAST OFFICE IN RALEIGH.
