Yellow Dot Program

Citizens and First Responders Working Together for Emergency Care

To: Moore County First Responders,

In an effort to continue to serve the citizens of Moore County, the Yellow Dot Program is being introduced.  Yellow Dot offers participants a way to provide vital information to First Responders, in the event of a vehicle crash or other roadside medical emergency, when they are unable to speak for themselves.

This new, free public service is made possible through the efforts and cooperation of many organizations including the Moore County Fire Chief’s Association, Department of Public Safety, Sheriff’s Department and Police Chiefs, FirstHealth of the Carolinas and the Rotary Club of the Sandhills.

Residents may sign up at five fire houses, starting on Tuesday, September 11.  Sign-ups will continue each week on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  The five fire houses are Aberdeen, Carthage, Pinehurst, Seven Lakes, and Southern Pines.

Yellow Dot can saves lives.  Everyone can benefit from the program, kids through seniors.

Participants have their picture taken when they sign up and fill out an information form with medical and emergency contact information that will go in the glove compartment.  Their picture is attached to the information form.  A Yellow Dot decal for the lower left, rear window of their vehicle indicates that vital information is in the glove compartment.

The September 11 launch date was chosen by Moore County firefighters and other First Responders in remembrance of the fallen First Responders in the 9/11 attacks.

You are likely to see newspaper articles, ads, brochures, and other media information over the next few weeks announcing that Yellow Dot is coming.  We wanted you to first hear about this exciting new program.

Starting in September, you are likely to see the Yellow Dot decals on the lower left, rear windows of vehicles.  This will indicate that vital information on participants is located in the glove compartment.

Moore County is one of the first three counties in North Carolina to introduce the program.  The Yellow Dot Program is expanding across the nation and is in 36 states.

Thank you for your support of this new and important service to our community.
