Moore County Public Safety staff and NC DEQ Dam Safety staff worked through the night in an effort to mitigate the hazards associated with the dam. The Dam did not breech, however Dam Safety inspectors found issues that must be addressed.
We have additional personnel and equipment resources en-route to assist in the mitigation efforts.
It will be late in the afternoon before we have any additional information concerning the safety inspection of the dam and the status of the mandatory evacuation orders.
