On November 18, 2010, Moore County Public Safety was recognized by the 18th Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg for exceptionally meritorious service during a search and recover operation on the Little River from October 3-7, 2010. The ceremony was held at the Harnett County EOC. Cypress Pointe, Southern Pines, and Crains Creek were also among the local Fire and Rescue Departments that were honored. These departments and a a few individuals received commendations from Lt. General Frank G. Helmick, Commander 18th Airborne Corps/Fort Bragg.

We have been given very constructive feedback in the fact that the system did work as a whole and not just the groups that were recognized at the ceremony. Our E911 system and dedicated Telecommunicators , whose quick thinking and expertise helped find the two surviving victims, were not mentioned. The people pictured in the photo were only a part of those who actually responded. There were also members of named responding departments that were not named at the ceremony.
